I don’t think it will come as a surprise when I say that I LOVE destination weddings. They are so intimate, FUN, and relaxing. Then I get the question… why would a couple bring their own photographer when there is one at the resort? Well, here are a few reasons:
1. Resorts don’t always offer FULL day coverage. Brining your own photographer ensures you are covered from start to finish.
2. You don’t always get the same photographer that you see on the resort website. And let’s face it, you WANT to know what kind of quality you are getting. If you were getting married locally, you would research and hire who suits YOU, not who the venue chooses for you.
3. Language barriers can be hard. Asking for certain poses, timelines, etc can get frustrating if you can’t always understand each other.
4. Peace of mind that your photographer is local and you can chat back and forth after the wedding easily. If you have any questions about your photos, you can talk face to face and not over third party emails.
5. You will have a bond with the photographer that will be following you around all day. This is huge!!! If you end up with someone you don’t jive with, your wedding day can take a townward turn.
These photos were taken in Ixtapa this past November for a VERY special couple that I have become such great friends with 🙂 They are the kindest, warmest people ever and I was so thrilled to be part of their wedding. It literally took me hours to narrow down which photos to share. There were so many great moments… beautiful moments up on the rocks with the waves behind, to moments when the whole guest list (including the bride and groom) jumped in the pool!!! Yes… I even hopped in! lol. The Las Brisas was the perfect backdrop for the perfect day.
